1st-6th Grade

National Day of the Horse with Thundering Hooves- Short Story and Art Project

  • Open to all grades

  • Write a short story (1 page, no more than 300 words) about a horse named Daisy who lived in the land of fire and ice around 56 million years ago.

  • Illustrate your work

  • Turn in your finished work to Mrs. Rowland with your name, grade, and homeroom teacher by December 10

Permian Basin in the Year 2125 with Chevron

  • Open to all grades

  • Create a 2D work of art

  • No larger than 18x24”

  • Imagine what  life, technology and the environment might look like in the Permian Basin 100 years from now. Entries can reflect ideas about future energy innovations, community life, and sustainability in this vital region of Texas and New Mexico

  • Include a short artist statement (3-5 sentences) describing how the piece reflects the theme on the entry form

  • Entries will be divided into grades K-4, grades 5-8. And 9-12

  • Winning entries will be displayed in museums across the Permian Basin and will receive a $100 gift card and have their submissions showcased on PermianProud.com

  • Turn in your finished artwork and entry form to Mrs. Rowland by December 3.
